1 Corinthians 3
1 Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual,
but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
-
I could not = was not able to
-
Many that don't understanding the word
-
Carnal = flesh body
-
Roman 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under
sin.
-
1 Corinthians 12:1 I beseech you
therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that
ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable
service.
-
Practice what you preach, or act in accordance
with your belief.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to
bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
-
Hebrews 5:12 For when for the
time ye ought to be teachers,
ye have need that one teach you again which
be the first principles of the oracles of
God; and are become such as have need of
milk, and not of strong meat.
-
13 For every one that
useth milk is
unskilful in the word of righteousness:
for he is a babe.
-
14 But strong meat
belongeth to them that are of full age,
even those who by reason of use have
their senses exercised to discern both
good and evil. .
-
Hitherto = ye were not as yet able to
bear it, Instead of supplying the ellipsis with " to bear it",
we might read "not as yet string enough".
-
You're not understanding the word
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and
divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
-
Carnal = flesh
-
Roman 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under
sin.
-
Some are still worshipping men
-
Envying = Acts 5:17Then the high priest rose up,
and all they that were with him, (which is the
sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with
indignation
-
Strife = 1 Corinthians 1:11
For it hath been declared unto me of you, my
brethren, by them which are of the house of
Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
-
Roman 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and
offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
-
He's saying, if there are those who don't
believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ, avoid
them.
4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not
carnal?
-
You're not understanding the word
-
There only one to worship, It's Christ
-
While = when ever
-
Carnal = the texts read it's men
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even
as the Lord gave to every man?
-
Paul wanted to destroyed the churches, now he's
teaching the word of God
-
Apollos = He didn't know anything about the word
of God, until he was taught by Priscilla (Acts
18)
-
Ministers = servants
-
By = through
-
Gave = Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some,
evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
-
He chose the vessels to reach new people, to
tend the flock, to help them in their troubles,
to encourage, to guide them and to teach.
-
These abilities are all God-Given.
-
They are all His gifts.
-
Ever man = each one
-
Watered = as in Verse 2
-
Acts 18:27 And when he was disposed to pass into
Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the
disciples to receive him: who, when he was come,
helped them much which had believed through
grace:
28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that
publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus
was Christ.
19 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was
at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper
coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain
disciples,
-
Act 19:1And it came to pass, that, while Apollos
was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the
upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding
certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy
Spirit since ye believed? And they said unto
him, We have not so much as heard whether there
be any Holy spirit.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye
baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
-
God gave the increase = Because God's work was
continuing, Paul or any other's only temportary.
-
It's God that opened your ears to hear His word
-
You can talk to five or more people, but until
God increase the word, they won't hear the word.
-
Acts 18:1 After these things Paul departed from
Athens, and came to Corinth;
2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in
Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife
Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded
all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto
them.
3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode
with them, and wrought: for by their occupation
they were tentmakers.
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath,
and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from
Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and
testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
6 And when they opposed themselves, and
blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto
them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am
clean: from henceforth I will go unto the
Gentiles.
7 And he departed thence, and entered into a
certain man's house, named Justus, one that
worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the
synagogue.
8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue,
believed on the Lord with all his house; and
many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and
were baptized.
9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a
vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not
thy peace:
10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on
thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in
this city.
11 And he continued there a year and six months,
teaching the word of God among them.
12 And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the
Jews made insurrection with one accord against
Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
13 Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship
God contrary to the law.
14 And when Paul was now about to open his
mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a
matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews,
reason would that I should bear with you:
15 But if it be a question of words and names,
and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no
judge of such matters.
16 And he drave them from the judgment seat.
17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief
ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the
judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of
those things.
18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good
while, and then took his leave of the brethren,
and sailed thence into Syria, and with him
Priscilla and Aquila; having
shorn his head in Cenchrea:
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but
God that giveth the increase.
-
Apollos wasn't even a Christian, until Priscilla
taught him, but it was God that opened up his
ears to hear
-
2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of
ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves;
but our sufficiency is of God;
-
Galatians 2:6 But of these who seemed to be
somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no
matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:)
for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference
added nothing to me:
-
Galatians 6:3 For if a man think himself to be
something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth
himself.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive
his own reward according to his own labour.
-
You are judged on your works
-
Your works are many ways = teaching God's word,
helping people, Just a smile could help someone,
teaching your children right from wrong, etc..
-
One = one thing
-
Both belong to the same company of servants, of
whom God is the Master
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's
building.
-
We = Paul and Soathenes
-
God's fellow = workers we are
-
Ye are = God's husbandry, etc..
-
Husbandry = tilled field
-
Building used in Matthew 24:And
Jesus went out, and departed from the temple:
and his disciples came to him for to shew him
the buildings of the temple.
-
God's building, ye are = God's Temple of the end
times
-
Labourers together with God = God's fellow =
workers
-
All of God's very elect will work together to teach
God's Word
-
Romans 12:
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the
same office:
-
All members have not the same function.
-
The parable that says, if your eye offend, then
pluck it out and if your hand offend, then cut
it off.
-
He was talking about the many member body of
Christ.
-
If one group is contrary to God, you must put
that group from you.
-
Better that it falls than the whole.
-
Romans 12:
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one
of another.
-
Ministers are co-workers with one another, not
with God, as though He were of them.
-
Were it so, "God" would be in the dative case.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master
builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every
man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
-
Hebrew 12:27 And this word, Yet once more,
signifieth the removing of those things that are
shaken, as of things that are made, that those
things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot
be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may
serve God acceptably with reverence and godly
fear:
29 For our God is a consuming fire.
-
When you work together ye are the building of
the temple
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
-
Christ is the only Rock you can build on
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones,
wood, hay, stubble;
-
All these six things are perished
-
1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold
that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise
and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it,
because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of
what sort it is.
-
Be made = become
-
The day of the Lord =
2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing,
that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a
thousand years as one day.
9 The
Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
-
If you put fire with gold, it makes it better
-
Just as God's word, teach God's word
-
Hebrew 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
-
He destroyed the wicked and comfort those that
try to do what's right
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built there upon, he shall receive a
reward.
-
He will lose his reward = 2 John 1:6 And this is
love, that we walk after his commandments. This
is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from
the beginning, ye should walk in it.
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world,
who confess not that Jesus
Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver
and an antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those
things which we have wrought, but that
we receive a full reward.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in
the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that
abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both
the Father and the Son.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall
be saved; yet so as by fire.
-
Righteousness Acts, Your Works are
the only thing you can take with you, after the dead of the flesh, NO
works, you are standing naked in heaven, no white lined.
Revelation 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief.
Blessed is he that watcheth,
and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they
see his shame.
Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and
rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come,
and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she
should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white:
for the fine linen is the
righteousness of saints.
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God
dwelleth in you?
-
Ye are the temple of God
-
The spirit dwells in the shrine formed by the
collective body of believers.
-
Ephesians 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through
the Spirit.
-
He is saying, The Gentiles, whom I'm teaching,
are a part of this
-
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one
of another.
Matthew 23:16 16 Woe unto you, ye blind
guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is
nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he
is a debtor!
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of
God is holy, which temple ye are.
-
Defile = same word as "destroy" below
-
Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which
is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
-
You cut off the old way of doing things, or your
old self.
-
Corrupt = Revelation 19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he
hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with
her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at
her hand.
-
Here is the avenging which was called for by
the saints in Revelation 6.
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this
world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
-
Deceive = Roman 7:11 And all the angels stood round
about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and
fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
-
If the whole world would do this
now, we wouldn't be in our present trouble some situation.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He
taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
-
The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God
-
Pslams 94:10 He that chastiseth the heathen,
shall not he correct? he that teacheth man
knowledge, shall not he know?
11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that
they are vanity.
12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O
Lord, and teachest him out of thy law;
13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days
of adversity, until the pit be digged for the
wicked.
14 For the Lord will not cast off his people,
neither will he forsake his inheritance.
15 But judgment shall return unto righteousness:
and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
16 Who will rise up for me against the
evildoers? or who will stand up for me against
the workers of iniquity?
17 Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had
almost dwelt in silence.
18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O
Lord, held me up.
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy
comforts delight my soul.
20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship
with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or
things present, or things to come; all are yours;
-
The temple of God = The many members body of God
-
Romans 12:
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the
same office:
-
All members have not the same function.
-
The parable that says, if your eye offend, then
pluck it out and if your hand offend, then cut
it off.

He was talking about the many member body of
Christ.
-
If one group is contrary to God, you must put
that group from you.
-
Better that it falls than the whole.
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one
of another.
23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.
-
One family = under the Rock = which is Christ
• Exactly 2520 years from the exile
of Benjamin, Iceland became an independent nation.
•
The first tribe to be
conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh,
in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.
(Leviticus. 26: 28-46) God warned Israel that if they persisted in continually
breaking His Laws, not only would curses come upon them.
He would punish them for seven times, (a time being 360 years, seven times would
be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of Palestine and scatter them
among the heathens (like lost sheep)
