Exodus 4
- The Lord Called Moses
Exodus 4:1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not
believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath
not appeared unto thee.
-
Moses said, the people will not believe me.
2 And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said,
A
rod.
3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and
it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.
-
God shows Moses Miracles, Why?
-
To show Moses He will be with him.
-
Who was the serpent in the Garden of Eden
-
Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from
heaven.
-
Satan's comes saying he is Christ (Revelation
13)
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and
over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt
you.
4 And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the
tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in
his hand:
5 That they may believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of
Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto
thee.
-
My Two witnesses will have power in the last days.
-
Revelation 11:1 And there was given me a
reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and
measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship
therein.
2 But the court which is without the temple
leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the
Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty
and two months.
3 And I will give power unto my two
witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and
threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Revelation 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it
rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over
waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all
plagues, as often as they will.
-
Satan and his angels will have power...
-
Revelation 13:13 And he
doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the
earth in the sight of men,
-
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the
earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight
of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make
an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
-
Satan will perform such
spectacular miracles that the unenlightened man will be deceived.
6 And the Lord said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy
bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out,
behold, his hand was leprous as snow.
7 And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand
into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it
was turned again as his other flesh.
-
Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from
heaven.
-
Satan's comes saying he is Christ (Revelation
13)
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and
over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt
you.
8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither
hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice
of the latter sign.
9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two
signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water
of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou
takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
-
Revelation 11, the two witnesses will be given
this same power
10 And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither
heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of
speech, and of a slow tongue.
-
Moses saying - I am not eloquent - slow of
speech
-
Moses is saying, I don't know if I can do this..
I'm not good speaker.
11 And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth?
or who maketh the
dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou
shalt say.
-
This is a type of what will happen to the elect, they will
be deliver up.. in the last days.
-
Mark 13:9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up
to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye
shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a
testimony against them.
-
How does God teach you?
-
John 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father
also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it
sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and
yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath
seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in
me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but
the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or
else believe me for the very works' sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the
works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these
shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that
the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another
Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him;
for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye
see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in
me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that
loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father,
and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
-
I will be with thy mouth?
-
Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead
you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye
shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be
given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that
speak, but the Holy Spirit.
-
You will be Deliver up for my sake, the Holy Spirit will speak
through you
13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt
send.
14 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not
Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold,
he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his
heart.
-
The anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses
-
Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother?
-
Moses and Aaron were Levite
-
I know that he can speak well.
15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with
thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
-
God going to teach them and speak for them
-
Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be
published among all nations.
-
11 But when they shall lead
you, and deliver you up, take no thought
beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye
premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you
in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye
that speak, but the Holy Spirit.
16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall
be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.
17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.
-
Thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt
do signs
18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto
him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and
see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.
19 And the Lord said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for
all the
men are dead which sought thy life.
20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he
returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
21 And the Lord said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that
thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but
I
will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even
my firstborn:
23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse
to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought
to kill him.
-
By the way in the inn = A further lesson,
not learnt in Egypt or at Horeb.
-
A secret in Moses' life, known only to himself.
-
Moses had neglected to circumcise Eliezer.
-
To save the child's life, Zipporah now performs
the rite herself.
-
Christ our Passover is
sacrificed for us
-
Today Circumcision is of the heart
25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and
cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.
26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the
circumcision.
27 And the Lord said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he
went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.
28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord who had sent him, and all the
signs which he had commanded him.
29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children
of Israel:
30 And Aaron spake all the words which the Lord had spoken unto Moses, and did
the signs in the sight of the people.
31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the Lord had visited the
children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they
bowed their heads and worshipped.

(Leviticus. 26: 28-46) God warned Israel that if they persisted in continually
breaking His Laws, not only would curses come upon them.
He would punish them for seven times, (a time being 360 years, seven times would
be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of Palestine and scatter them
among the heathens (like lost sheep)
