Romans 10:1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is,
that they might be saved.
-
Think back to that third verse in the previous chapter.
-
Think of all that love and many works, the service that Paul had
done for God.
-
He loved his own people, any truly love and serve God, he had
compassion for others.
2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according
to knowledge.
-
Zeal from G2204; properly, "zeal" in a favorable sense
-
They have a zeal for God, but they don't have a zeal for the
knowledge.
-
Unfortunately, that's what's wrong with our people today.
-
They go and listen to what a man says, but they don't check it
out for themselves in God's word.
-
They don't study the Word themselves, and only this will keep you
from being deceived in this today.
3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to
establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto
the righteousness of God.
-
I hope you will study and prove it to yourselves.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that
believeth.
-
Christ accomplishes everyone that the law could not accomplish.
-
Now there's a qualification there: "to everyone that believeth".
-
Or, to those that believe in Christ, but let us be cautious.
-
Believe in which Christ?
-
It is especially important in this hour to know that it must be the
Christ that was crucified on the cross, because He was the Son of
God.
-
It is not the false christ that some are waiting for at this time,
and who is none other than Lucifer himself.
-
This error comes about in ignorance, as Paul says here.
-
They have not sought the knowledge; they do not study His word.
-
They are not the elect.
-
Only the elect will be aware of this false identity.
5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the
man which doeth those things shall live by them.
-
Moses brought the law.
-
Now man could be saved by them, except that living by them is not
possible.
6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not
in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ
down from above:)
-
Righteousness is of faith in Christ, or not to those who think they
have to literally see him in order to believe.
7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ
again from the dead.)
-
On the same thought that is in verse 6, how are you going to reach
Him, if not by faith.
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in
thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
-
Paul asks, what is the truth of it?
-
John 14:26, What he's saying here is, that Christ is with us,
teaching us and in our
heart through the Holy Spirit.
-
Being the elect, He is with us in spirit, guiding us and watching
us.
-
Remember also that He said, Touch not mine elect.
-
Understand this. Not only is He with us, but soon when you're
delivered up before this whole world to witness for Him, He will
speak through you.
-
You don't have to be on orator or a scholar.
-
He will speak through you, and your reward for this is that your
people will hear your words.
-
During the millennium, you will walk among them teaching, and
they'll turn back to the real Father and to the true Christ.
-
There won't be any more tears or hurt.
-
Soon afterward, they will make their choice, when Satan is loosed
yet a little while. which is the second testing.
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved.
-
If you believe in the Lord and own up to your belief, you shall be
saved.
-
Remember of course, believing in Him requires obeying His commands.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be
ashamed.
-
I refer you back on this "ashamed" to the last verse of the
preceding chapter.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the
same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
-
"Rich" refers to the fact that the Lord has ample love for all call
on Him.
-
God Loves All That Call Upon Him, No difference
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
-
Paul said all were not Israel which were of
Israel, that all the seed of Abraham was not Israel.
-
The son of Abraham and Hagar that was not the seed of
Isaac.
-
This verse is telling us that he also shall be saved, if he
believes, because God has ample love for everyone.
-
Know that when He speaks through you, it is for the very purpose of
gathering everyone to love Him, so they may have salvation.
-
He is a God of love and His riches in love is ample.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and
how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall
they hear without a preacher?
-
Why doesn't the world believe in Him today?
-
Because they believe in a false christ.
-
They haven't heard of Lord, because men teach and preach a false
christ, so if they don't believe in Him, how are they going to call
on Him?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How
beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and
bring glad tidings of good things!
-
Paul speaks here of the very elect, those who teach the true Messiah,
Jesus the Christ.
-
It says how beautiful those that tell the gospel of peace: and this
means the full truth wherein there is no confusion.
-
They don't preach hell and damnation, that God is going to fry
everyone like a piece of bacon, but rather the fact that He is just
and He will judge no one in their ignorance..the fact that in the
millennium, all will know the truth before they are judged.
-
Why are the feet mentioned here?
-
We walk on our feet, and this refers to those who are coming; or to
put it another way, it refers to the elect who will be teachers
during the millennium and speak the truth, which constitutes the
glad tiding mentioned in this verse.
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who
hath believed our report?
-
Esaias = Isaiah
-
Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the
arm of the LORD revealed?
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
-
You understand by faith in the word of God.
-
This speaks of those who have ears to hear.
18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all
the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
-
And Paul says here, this faith carries you right through the time
when you are delivered up, or the end of this world, that is now.
-
Your voice will be heard all over the world at the time of this
great trial, which I believe will be televised internationally.
-
Rebuttal to Satan will be made by God, when He speaking through you.
19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you
to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will
anger you.
-
A foolish nation, or a nation that didn't understand.
-
Go back to the Song of Moses..
-
Deuteronomy 32:21 They have
moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have
provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them
to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke
them to anger with a foolish nation.
- Amos 6:14 But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation,
O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall
afflict you from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of the
wilderness.
- Before the end, I am going to let the Kenites have a play with you
Deuteronomy 32:22 For a fire is
kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and
shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the
foundations of the mountains.
God is a consuming Fire
Deuteronomy 4:24 For the LORD thy God is a
consuming fire, even a jealous God.
20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought
me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.
-
How was He found by someone who sought Him not?
-
They were chosen.
21 But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands
unto a disobedient and gain saying people.
-
Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for, but the elect
have.
