Zechariah 11

Zechariah 11 Rulers Has Sold My People                           Zechariah 11    Zechariah 11   Zechariah 11

Zechariah 11:1 Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.
  • Hebrew 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
  • Fire refers to the wicked to cleanse out all evil (7th vial, God's wrath poured out on the wicked. Rev 16)
  • Fire refers here to the Holy Spirit to warm your heart (Acts 2)
  • Deut 4:24 For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
25 When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the Lord thy God, to provoke him to anger:
2 Howl, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is come down.
  • The cedar is fallen refers to our people, he said they will fall
  • If your not studying God's word, you're going to fall. You will be deceived by worship Satan.
3 There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled.
  • Shepherds are the rulers of the State
  • Young lions are the rapacious nobles. Given to plunder; disposed or accustomed to seize by violence; seizing by force; as a rapacious enemy.
4 Thus saith the Lord my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter;
  • Feed my people the word
  • Feed the flock of the slaughter means they have sold our people
  • They have sold your businesses and the sheep trafficker that sell our own people
5 Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the Lord; for I am rich: and their own shepherds pity them not.
  • They don't study God's word, God's not going to use them
  • False pastors teach mans word not God's Word
  • I won't have pity on them because they have taken your birth right
  • Feed, Tend, Zechariah is to represent a good shepherd, and is sent to the People whose rulers destroyed them.
  • Verses 11 and 16, For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces.
  • Of refers to exposed to, or destined for slaughter
  • Romans 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
6 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the Lord: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour's hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.
  • God will take care of those that study His word
  • God said, I will let them destroy each other. If they don't listen to My Word. I will let them destroy each other.
  • Am rich should be, am become rich, and therefore can sell them cheaply.
7 And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.
  • Sheep trafficker that sell our own people
  • And I will feed, So I Zechariah tended.
  • Even you, O poor of the flock, Reading the two words (in Hebrew) as one word. It should be "for the sheep-traffickers".
  • Zechariah 14:21 Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the Lord of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts.
  • Staves = Which shepherds use; the crook or staff, and the club
  • Beauty = Graciousness
  • Bands = Union
  • Rod and . . . staff = club and . . . crook.
  • The only two things carried by the shepherd; the former for defense, the latter for help.
  • The club for the sheep's enemies, the crook for the sheep's defense.
  • A lesson for pastors to-day.
  • Verse 15 And the Lord said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.
  • Zechariah 6:10 Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah;
    11 Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;
8 Three shepherds also I cut off in one month; and my soul lothed them, and their soul also abhorred me.
  • Three shepherds are the rulers, false pastors, governors, these hate God. They sell out the people.
  • Cut off = sent off = they are unnamed
  • They hate God's Word
9 Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.
  • God said, I won't be with them, let them die. Why because of what they have done to the people. False teaching.
  • That, the dying will die. Those that don't study the word of God
  • Eat every one means to destroy one another
10 And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people.
  • Old covenant is after Jesus died, now the New covenant
  • People here reads the tribes
11 And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the Lord.
  • They knew God's word was coming to pass
  • The poor of the flock are the sheep trafficker
  • Verse 7 And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.
  • Waited upon should reads were watching me
  • 1 Samuel 1:12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the Lord, that Eli marked her mouth.
  • 1 Sam 19:11 Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain.
12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.
  • The prophecy was spoken and written long before.
  • They sold Christ, don't you think they won't sell you
  • Thirty pieces of silver was the price of a salve or blood money
  • Price was the wage
  • Thirty pieces of silver, The damages for injury done to a servant.
  • Exodus 21:32 If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
  • This is not the passage referred to in Matthew 27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.
  • That was "spoken" by Jeremiah; this was written by Zechariah.
13 And the Lord said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord.
  • Can you hear those thirty pieces of silver that Judas cast onto the Temple floor ringing throughout the Temple?
  • The blood money that made it possible for the broken souls of the world to be mended through His sacrifice.
  • Something is now added that is very important.
  • Cast it unto the potter is "into the treasury".
  • 2 Chron 24:10 And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, until they had made an end.
  • Potter is fashioner.
  • The material cast to, so as to be used by, the fashioner determines the meaning of the word (Hebrew word is yazar).
  • If clay, then a potter
  • Jeremiah 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
  • Jeremiah 19:1 Thus saith the Lord, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;
  • If stone, then a jeweller, or mason
  • 1 Chron 22:15 Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work.
  • If wood, then a carpenter
  • If iron, then a smith
  • Isaiah 44:12 The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.
13 The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
  • If gold, then a goldsmith, If silver, then a silversmith
  • Hosea 13:2 And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.
  • The casting of silver to a potter was as incongruous as casting clay to a silversmith.
  • Goodly = ample = Used of a wide garment.
  • There is no evidence of irony here or elsewhere in Zechariah.
  • The Hebrew word  'eder is denotes size and amplitude, as in Jonah.
  • Jonah 3:6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
  • Mic 2:8 Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.
  • Prised = priced.
  • Of them should be by them. But some read "by you.
14 Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
  • They became two separate houses, the house of Israel and house of Judah
  • Unfortunately many today try to include all of Israel into the one tribe of Judah.
  • They don't realize Israel and Judah are split, even to this day.
  • This will cause a great deal of deception.
  • Why? Read God's word for the answer.

15 And the Lord said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.
  • This entity is a false shepherd.
  • He is the anti-christ that will deceive many, when he claims to be the Good Shepherd.
  • The key to David is to know who killed Jesus
  • Foolish is worthless.
  • Judah and Israel had rejected these, and later on they rejected Messiah the Good Shepherd; hence the threatening in.
16 For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces.

  • These false pastors sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver
  • Revelation 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
  • Good reading Matthew 27
  • Shall not visit those that be cut off = God's not going to help those that have not studied His word
  • Lo = Figure of speech = Asterismos
  • This Looks forward to the Antichrist; for one of his titles is "the idol shepherd "of Zech 11:17.
  • Those that be cut off, the perishing.
  • The young one = the straying.
  • That that is broken = the wounded.
  • Feed = nourish.
  • That standeth still = the weak
17 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.
  • Your arm is your strenght
  • Right eye = he can't see nothing but darkness
  • The Lord promises the thirty pieces of silver would lead to the sacrifice of Jesus.
  • Then He tells us He will send a false shepherd
  • This is like a test.
  • What do you know? Will you be able to discern the true Shepherd from the false?
  • If you haven't studied God's word enough to pass this test, you will be deceived.
  • You will be judged by God in this test.
  • Have you absorbed enough of His Word to pass the test?
  • The witness of Jesus to Pilate was powerful and true.
  • Woe to the people that follow Satan, if you follow Satan.
  • The dead are spiritually dead to God's word
  • Satan is darkness
  • Darkened is blindness
  • Zech 13:7 Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.
8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.
  • Clean dried = withered

Exactly 2520 years from the exile of Benjamin, Iceland became an independent nation.

The first tribe to be conquered by the Assyrians was Manasseh, in 745 B.C. Exactly 2520 years later America became a nation on July 4, 1776.

(Leviticus. 26: 28-46) God warned Israel that if they persisted in continually breaking His Laws, not only would curses come upon them.

He would punish them for seven times, (a time being 360 years, seven times would be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of Palestine and scatter them among the heathens (like lost sheep)
